The first USA patent of a hydrogen/oxygen generating cell used in conjunction with a ICE motor was in 1918, by Charles Frazer. Mr. Frazer described as a device added to the ICE motor, to increase efficiency, eliminate carbon deposits and improve horsepower.
His invention was patented (1,262,034), demonstrated in public, and described in the newspapers. Then it disappeared. Many people believe this patent was suppressed or even stolen by the oil companies because they saw this as a direct threat to their sales.
Others just think it was an idea ahead of its time but with cheap abundant fuel and an no real knowledge of environmental impact of CO2 the demand for his product was simply not there.
Skip forward almost a century and ask who wants a better gas mileage or a cleaner environment? If there was a simple product you could attach to your car that would provide these things would you buy it?
